You’ve heard of ADD but what about EDD? EDD refers to empathy deficit disorder (as defined by a Washington psychotherapist in the Washington Post). Empathy is the ability to feel at some level what another is experiencing.

Charmin Toilet Paper Wedding Dress!

Did you see the story about the wedding in the New York Charmin restroom? The bride wore a white Charmin . Seems that the bride won a contest and got her wedding paid for. (If you can’t resist, you can watch the video here: Toilet Paper Wedding Dress )

I completely understand a couple’s desire to save money on their wedding.

How Do You Know It’s Love?

Got something today you’ll get a kick out of. I stumbled across these 1950’s films. The one below is called “How do you know it’s love?” You’ll laugh yourself silly at some of this, but when it’s over, ask yourself the question, “How do you know it’s love?”

There are a lot of directions you can take that discussion. Here’s one: I co-officiated a wedding last weekend, and the other minister made this observation: In marriage, there is an evolving relationship between feelings and action. Early on, feelings (of love) lead to action. As the marriage goes along, often the actions are what create the feelings (of love). What do you think?

Enjoy the movie and your discussion. There are two parts, each about 7 minutes long.

Wife and Mother-In-Law Conflict

No mother-in-law jokes here, but a serious question: Can two women love the same man and still get along? That’s the subtitle of a book by Annie Chapman. The book is The Mother-In-Law-Dance.

She has advice for both the mother-in-law and her son’s wife.

When Marriage Problems Come

couple-argue-back-to-back.jpgWhat do you do when you have ? Serious problems? A lot of couples bail. That’s always sad, because I know that in most cases if they hung on, better days would come.

Someone said marriage is like a lilac bush…in the winter it looks dead & lifeless and you might think to uproot it. But if you leave it, next spring it will blossom again.

The Writer’s Strike - Marriage and Unemployment

Funny YouTube video below about the and marriage. Christina Applegate and “Bob” remind us in a funny way of something not so funny - unemployment. It happens to everyone at some time and can create a lot of stress on a marriage relationship.

Bad things happen to good people. Often bad things happen and we have little control over when and why they happen. Spend time thinking beforehand what strategies you will have to work through difficult times when they come. Meanwhile, enjoy the movie!
